Lisa RichartHernandez  0:39
Hi. Welcome back to loving RV Life Podcast. I'm Lisa Richart Hernandez, and I'm George Hernandez. And first off, I suppose there's a lot of you going, Wait a minute, isn't this the RVU podcast? Well, we have taken some time, and we started this podcast back in 2020 and it's just been a hobby for us, and we named it our view, our V, I, E, W as like a play on view properties, my real estate brokerage and RV lifestyle. Well, it took us several years and lots of learning to figure out that Alexa doesn't know how to say our view. When you go to type in our view, autocorrects to review. And so we decided, since we were in addition getting a brand new windshield on our motor coach, we decided it's time to make a change to the name of our podcast. So we have now rebranded. We're still the same George and Lisa doing all of our fun adventures, but we've renamed our podcast to loving RV Life, and we are definitely loving RV Life, and so we felt like it was an appropriate name, so you are definitely in the right place. Still George and Lisa, Richard and Hernandez, and we're still traveling in our motor coach and have all kinds of adventures to tell you about.

George  2:04
So let's get started. Nothing's changed, but the name,

Lisa RichartHernandez  2:07
that's right, that's right. So we are going to talk to you. We just got back from a great trip to the Hard Rock resort in Cabo, San Lucas, Mexico. Now you've probably heard our stories before about our hard rock trip to Punta Cana. We've done that many times. This was our second trip to the resort in Cabo, and the first time we went was still during kind of COVID times, so everything wasn't like normal. So we're going to share with you our experience and how great it was.

George  2:42
Not only was it COVID, but remember, a hurricane came through. Oh yeah. I mean, there was a lot of things from the first experience was not wonderful, so we wanted to give it a second chance, and I'm so glad we did. Well, let's just get into it and we'll tell you all about it.

Lisa RichartHernandez  2:58
So first off, we are members of the Hard Rock resorts. So basically, when you get there, they try to sell you, sort of like this timeshare thing. And, you know, I know a lot of people hate, hate when they when you go on a trip and they try to sell you something or whatever, but we kind of got suckered into it about, I don't know, five or six years ago, and I wouldn't say suckered into it, because we've really enjoyed our membership there. We love that, and we are considered legendary members now, right, Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame, and that includes us getting, you know, picked up from the airport. Includes our transportation. We get to use the Hall of Fame pools that have got a butler. Yep, and we get a butler. Now, when you first told me, Oh, you're gonna get a butler, I was like, Who needs a butler? It's all inclusive. I tell you what that Butler is. A Game changer

George  3:50
For sure, right? It's the best thing that comes with our plan. And what Lisa forgot to tell you was that this was Lisa's birthday week celebration. Yes,

Lisa RichartHernandez  3:59
week, oh yeah, because we celebrate the whole month of May for my birthday.

George  4:04
Yes, absolutely. And just to give you a quick insight, I was able to contact the butler before we even got there. So a week before we got there, I was in touch with him. He sent me a text, and they use WhatsApp. So I was able to arrange all kinds of things to surprise Lisa through the butler a week before we got there. So when we got to our room, it had already been decorated for her birthday. The he had signs up, he had balloons up. So it's just

Lisa RichartHernandez  4:35
incredible story there. And yeah, I mean, he,

George  4:41
Oscar, did an incredible job. So I have to give props to Oscar Lopez, our butler, and anytime we go to Cabo, I'm going to request Oscar, because he just blew it out of the park. And we'll, I'll tell you more of what he did and why that service is like Lisa said, We're. Like, I don't know. We're never going to use it now. We're like, Oscar, we need this. Oscar. We need that.

Lisa RichartHernandez  5:04
Well, yeah, because every day he'll say, Well, what pool Do you want to go to tomorrow? And you just tell him. And then he puts out these little tape, little signs that say reserved for the Hernandez family. And we were traveling with another couple our friends, Jim and Tammy, so he would get us four chairs wherever we went, and we just had to be there by, like, I don't know, they asked that you come before noon. Yeah,

George  5:27
if you don't come by noon, they they pick up all the signs, all the reservations are done by noon if you're not sitting in the chair, yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  5:32
because they don't want the whole place reserved. And then, like, people that are actually there, and then nobody shows up, right? So, fair enough. Yeah, yeah, so, but it's just, it's so nice because you're like, Oh, we don't have to rush down and put our, you know, a towel on a chair before breakfast or anything like that, to get a good spot at the

George  5:50
pool. Yeah, he even got us a couple cabanas on different days, which was really nice. Also,

Lisa RichartHernandez  5:56
yeah, yeah, yeah, that. And the cabana was really cool because, like, they bring you food. They bring you food everywhere, everywhere, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was, like, served, I guess you just ordered off the menu, and they brought us at every pool, whatever we wanted, yeah,

George  6:14
and the wait staff, incredible, super fast, super friendly, and we'll get into this. But the food was unbelievable. It was so good. Well, everywhere,

Lisa RichartHernandez  6:28
let's, let's put that in perspective. So we live in Charleston, South Carolina. We've probably saw this like a million times, and we have a million amazing restaurants, incredible restaurants, like, definitely a foodie town. So whenever we travel, we kind of have, like, low expectations of the food and and that said, you know, we've gone, gone to the resort in Punta, Cana, many, many times, and the food is good. It's not like, oh, it's amazing, but it's very good. But I think the food in Cabo was much better. I preferred it. Oh, much better. Much better. Maybe it's because the different in culture in Mexico, and what you can what the supplies that they have available there, as opposed to, you know, Punta Cana Dominican Republic. But we, we really loved it. Yeah, absolutely

George  7:17
everything, everything, everything I ate, was delicious. Even by the pool, the food was delicious.

Lisa RichartHernandez  7:26
They had everything from ceviche to cheeseburgers and finger, you know, chicken fingers. I mean, you really could get,

George  7:33
yeah, what was the steak we had a couple of times poolside, and it was nice and tender. And

Lisa RichartHernandez  7:40
so that was for my birthday. When we did have a cabana for my birthday, and the chef made a big special deal, and all the staff came out, and we'll put some pictures on our Facebook page, which, by the way, we now have our own page for our view. You can find us on Facebook, R, V, I, E, W, it wouldn't let me change the name to loving r v life podcast, but we'll put some pictures of the amazing food they brought out this humongous platter, like for the four of us. That was like, marinated grilled steak, marinated chicken, grilled chicken, shrimp.

George  8:21
Guacamole. Like it was just vegetables, like all like this

Lisa RichartHernandez  8:25
big, huge, beautiful platter of, like, amazing meats and vegetables. It was, like healthy, low carb, also delicious.

George  8:36
And again, Oscar put that all together on his own. He just asked me, as a matter of fact, when we talked, he said, I need one day so that I can surprise your wife. I want to arrange something. And I said, How about we do it right on her birthday? So they came out. They helped me decorate the cabana. They brought Oscar, brought the food out. He brought the chef out so the chef could explain what we were eating the whole wait staff, the pool staff, came and sang Happy Birthday to Lisa. It was just the service was incredible. Yeah.

Lisa RichartHernandez  9:10
That was really, really great. And, like, it was weirdly super windy while we were there, which, if there was any one thing which was out of no control of anybody, it was that it was so windy there. And so he would say, well, this pool will be better today because it's so windy. Yeah,

George  9:30
the building block, which was great advice. And I asked the round, and it was on unseasonably, seasonably windy, windy, which, let's throw this out there. Also, the hard rock where it's located, if you like swimming in the ocean, is the ocean is very rough there.

Lisa RichartHernandez  9:53
No, you're not allowed to go swim in the ocean, yeah. I mean, no, people don't go to the beach in Cabo, right? There are specific beaches that you. Can, like, take a bus to or whatever, but there really would be no point in that. I mean, there's so many beautiful pools, right there you they're all Infinity Edge pools. There's a bunch of swim up bars, and really, no, like, you can go sit in your chairs on the beach, but you do not go in the water. It's not allowed. It's way too steep and dangerous to get in the ocean. Yeah,

George  10:23
at that location, there are some beaches you can go to, but just right at the Hard

Lisa RichartHernandez  10:27
Rock, yeah, that, that's not a thing. So if, if you want to go to a beach and put your feet in, in the sand and swim in the ocean, this is not the resort for actually, Cabo in general, is, is you'd really, you really got to find a specific place that would have a sort of like a cove or something. Now, well, that didn't bother us at all,

George  10:47
but remember, they told us, if you're on the Sea of Cortez side, you can there's nice beaches there, but where we were just, just keep that in mind.

Lisa RichartHernandez  10:56
Yeah, just keep that in mind. So though my birthday was amazing, every single restaurant that we went to, they were like, it's your birthday. And they brought out, like, everybody saying, like, literally every single night, oh

George  11:09
yeah. They did at least 10 videos of different every place I went, I made sure to let them know that it was the princess's birthday. And they were awesome. They sang happy birthday every single time. And even when we went down to the marina, I found three guys, little mariachi bands just walking around the marina. And I said, Hey, would you sing happy birthday to my wife? And they were like, Heck, yeah. So I'll post that video. Also, the people are incredible down there.

Lisa RichartHernandez  11:40
Yeah. So one thing I like about Cabo San Lucas is you really can leave the resort and go to other places, like, a lot of times we would say, like, generally in like, Punta, Cana, maybe Jamaica, and some different places that we've traveled to that have all inclusives. You know, you kind of don't leave the gates of the resort because it's either just really not that nice or really not that safe. And Cabo was a place where, you know, you go down to the marina area where it's kind of, I don't know, it's a tourist area. It's, it's a tourist trap, sort of a kind of a place, but, you know, there's, you know, street vendors and stuff like that, but, and a bunch of restaurants and things to do. But it's nice to go down there. You can see all the sea lions,

George  12:22
right? And Cabo, I would encourage you, yeah, go down.

Lisa RichartHernandez  12:26
So please take one day. Just take one afternoon. Go down to the marina. Walk around. I have some drinks. Go to Cabo Wabo,

George  12:36
yeah, so that's that was cool. We did do Cabo Wabo. That was my first time. Yeah, I think I would like, next time we go, I'd like to go at night, because it looks like at night it

Lisa RichartHernandez  12:47
Yeah, they have like, a more, like a stage and stuff, yeah, we went during the day. We also went to what Slim's elbow room, the smallest bar, yeah, is, like, very small. I think they only serve shots of tequila there and beer or something like that,

George  13:01
beer and shots of tequila, tequila? Yes, yeah.

Lisa RichartHernandez  13:06
So of course, we had to have a shot at tequila. There. We sat outside at Captain Tony's, which is right there, right at the marina, yep. And then also leaving the resort. We so right next to the to the Hard Rock Cabo is Nobu, which is like a Michelin star restaurant. And this this year when, when we go to talk to our timeshare people, I guess would be the best way to call them, they do their little presentation. Try to get you to buy more things. They always give you a gift for free, like, What? What? Just for listening to their spiel. So they give us a $300 credit to Nobu, which is right next door to the Hard Rock and Cabo. So they literally drive you over there on a golf cart. Absolutely amazing food, beautiful, beautiful views. We obviously it's more than don't think that $300 unless you're barely eating anything, is gonna cover your meal.

George  14:04
There $300 probably a couple drinks and an appetizer. Yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  14:08
yeah. Very, very expensive. I thought worth it. It was, it was worth it. And it's like, you know, a special, very special experience. So keep that in mind if you're interested in that we had some like, I think our favorite food, I think we ended up ordering another one was the king crab tempura. Yes, that sauce that it was in, it was like very, very lightly tempura, breaded, big lumps of king crab with some delicious sauce on it. I think we ended up getting a second one of those. And the food is served like, almost like tapas, almost like they bring out, like, one, like, like a bunch of different you order, like, a whole bunch of different things. And I love that, because that means you get to try, like, a bite of each different thing and get a bunch of different flavors and stuff. Like that. So we really enjoyed that.

George  15:02
We that was awesome. I do want to touch on one thing, if you do stay at the Hard Rock, and this is kind of weird, if you decide to venture into the marina, you have to take a taxi from the resort to the marina, but you can Uber back. Oh yeah, that is, the weird thing is they won't allow an empty Uber to come pick you up, but if you're in the Uber, they'll let them drop you off, if that makes

Lisa RichartHernandez  15:29
sense. Yeah, so it was like 3540

George  15:34
bucks or something for $40 for the taxi, and then the Uber was like 15 bucks. Yeah, a lot cheaper. Now you can. What our butler said was, which is kind of silly, you can take a taxi to the main gate of the hard rock and then pick an Uber up from there. And I was like, well, if I'm already in the cab, I'm just, just keep driving,

Lisa RichartHernandez  15:55
right? Yeah? Like, if you're just, you know, budget conscious and want to see $15 they're

George  16:00
very, very hard on security, so they don't let anybody in unless you're a guest is with them,

Lisa RichartHernandez  16:09
yeah? And it's funny, because you get to the gate of the Hard Rock, you're like, Yay, we're here, and then you drive for like, 15 more minutes. Yeah. Property is massive, yeah, yeah. They're building a lot of, like, individual condos and stuff there, and they have a really nice golf course, Georgian golf time. But for those that do golf, that is another thing that they can give you for free if you do the if that's something you're interested in. But we have, how many things of golf that we still haven't used?

George  16:37
25 rounds, foursomes. Oh, yeah. So yeah, so I got plenty of

Lisa RichartHernandez  16:43
golf, and if you had to pay for the golf on your own, it's about $200 or so.

George  16:49
Punta Cana, yeah, it's about almost 200

Lisa RichartHernandez  16:52
bucks, yeah, something like that. So if you're a golfer, the golf course looked really nice. Yeah, it's beautiful. It was so windy, though I could not imagine golfing in that wind.

George  17:02
Well, we didn't see a lot of golfers out there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was probably would wreak havoc on your

Lisa RichartHernandez  17:09
game. Yeah, exactly like that. Really wouldn't make a difference in my it might help. But so let's see those are, what are? What else do we do? So we also, we walked around the marina and went downtown. Hold

George  17:25
on, but back to restaurants, they also have awaken your senses in Cabo. So we did that again. I know you've heard, all you guys have heard is talking about the awaken your senses in Punta, Cana. We did it in Cabo. And again, it was delicious. And what an experience. Yeah, so, got to try that,

Lisa RichartHernandez  17:43
yeah. So if you have not listened to the podcast about Punta Cana, the wake in your senses is it's at the Hard Rock and you have to pay extra for it. I think it's about $150

George  17:56
a person. Yes, which we got included in our No, we got the sailing,

Lisa RichartHernandez  18:01
yeah, we got this, the sailing trip included in our to do our tour thing. But the wake in your senses, if, first off, you should not be a picky eater, because everything is very, like, super Gourmet, and it's a set menu. So if you're like a chicken finger type of people like this isn't really for you, but the experience itself is so cool. You walk into this room and all the walls are like white, and the table's white, and you sit and there's only 12 people allowed like that at the table, and they it's like a seven course meal. There's a cocktail with every course that matches whatever it is you're drinking. And basically it looks like, like a virtual thing, like it looks you, looks like you're in an airplane, and then you're like, traveling to all these different countries. And you get to these countries, and it's on all the walls and the table, and like, you can touch the table, for example, like one of them is, like, on the beach, and you can run your hands through the water, and the water moves on the table, and like you can tap the table, and little seashells pop up. And so there's, it's just very cool, super cool, interactive.

George  19:12
It's an interactive dining experience, yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  19:15
and I, we highly recommend it. We love we loved it. And the food is very, very good. If you do have a gluten allergy or anything, they will accommodate any kind of food allergies, which you know that is. But if you're, like, just a picky eater in general and don't like to try things that you don't like, know what it is

George  19:32
if you're a picky eater, this is not for you, right? Yeah, because you got to go in there with an open mind and you you just got to try it, yeah? And you never know you may end up really liking something that you thought you didn't like, right? Yeah. And I know Lisa touched on this, but the drinks were really good, and

Lisa RichartHernandez  19:50
oh yeah, by the end, we were pretty feeling good. I was like, whoo, every one of each one of these drinks. So I. Uh, that was, that was really fun. And the dessert is my, one of my favorite things. It's like, looks like a space planet, yeah? I don't want to ruin it for you. It's just really,

George  20:09
really cool. We'll post a couple pictures, but not too many, because part of it, it is experiencing, yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  20:14
if you look on the on the website, they kind of give you sort of a preview of what, yeah, I think they have a video also, yeah. So that's definitely worth the extra money, in our opinion. We've now done that three, four times, three times, at least several times at Punta Cana. And then this was obviously our first time at at Cabo doing it. And was it, was it was the food was a little different. Oh yeah, it was very different. Yeah, yeah. Just some really different things. So that was really great. And

George  20:43
I think they changed up the menu otherwise, you know, if you do it two or three times, you're not going to do it the fourth time, if it's the same exact

Lisa RichartHernandez  20:49
man. I think it's like such a cool business idea. I would love to have a place like that. Build a place like that in Charleston, and you could have a bunch of different rooms and change the theme up all the time. Yeah, different amazing restaurants.

George  21:00
So all the restaurants at Cabo were really good. I will say Cabo resort is about half the size of Punta Cana smaller, for sure, way smaller, which was nice. We could get to everything pretty quick. They didn't have to take a trolley.

Lisa RichartHernandez  21:16
Yeah, I don't even think there is a trolley

George  21:20
different places. So they had several restaurants Zen, which was hibachi. That was really all right. I'm not going to keep saying this was really good and really good. They were all really good. So I'm not going to say that anymore.

Lisa RichartHernandez  21:34
Yeah, like one of the things I like, you know, you obviously want to reserve when you get there the first day, if you don't have a butler, just go to the to the the people who do your reservations right there. They're right by the front desk, yeah. And what I suggest is say, you know, this is the number of people in our party, just book, just have them book you at every single restaurant. Like, and you can always cancel, but you don't want to, like, not have it booked and Zen, because it's, you know, only certain number of people at each hibachi table. They kind of have more of a planned seating. That's one that you definitely want to make a reservation for. And they do a great show, if you follow us at all, you know, we have a hibachi table at our home, and everyone says that's the best hibachi that I cook. So I'm a little biased, but they are great with all the tricks. And I always learn new things from those guys, because they do a really great job, and they make it really fun for you. And so we definitely recommend that. But one thing that we didn't get to do at Zen, which I would definitely do next time we went back, is you can apparently just sit at the sushi bar, yeah, and they will just make you sushi like, again, if you're not a picky eater, you know, we were with some people that you know had different food likes, or whatever, and so we didn't really do that, which was fine, because we were super busy the whole time. Yeah, had a great time. But that is an option if you're a real sushi lover. Like, definitely take advantage of

George  23:01
that. And was another one, the Italian restaurant, yes, and which was really good, yeah, I said I wasn't gonna say it, and I just said it again, yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  23:10
I think that's the first place that we went, that we found the world's largest pepper grinder. Oh, my God. I mean, it is, like, gotta be, like, four feet tall. I don't know, maybe somebody was stealing pepper grinders, and they're like, Okay, for now on, we're gonna have nobody's walking out with this, walk out anywhere with this thing. But I'll

George  23:28
definitely post a picture of that, because it's hysterical.

Lisa RichartHernandez  23:31
Yeah, yeah. The pasta was very, very nicely done. Had some, I think I had some, like, it was, like, a chicken parmesan or whatever. Yeah, the sauce was excellent. Everything was very good. So we did that one night. We've got,

George  23:48
they have a new restaurant called UMO Oh, which in Spanish means smoke, okay, and that one was kind of interesting, because it's not in the lobby, it's not where all the other restaurants are. It's kind of tucked away in the corner of a building, yeah, there, there's,

Lisa RichartHernandez  24:07
well, you see it right by the big hard rock guitar, and then they're like, it says UMO this way. And you go into this building and kind of around weird and hidden, yeah, but it's very beautiful inside, like, I love, I guess, because this resort opened in like, 2020 2021, yeah. So everything's very everything's very new and very modern, beautiful, beautiful decor. And the that was probably one of the best foods, and everybody loved that. So you probably do want to make a reservation for that one. Also just make reservations everywhere, yeah, yeah. And, but if you're not there for a whole entire week, I would say UMO is one you don't want to miss. For sure, they had that the best brisket taco.

Unknown Speaker  24:50
Oh yeah, that was so, like, the one

Lisa RichartHernandez  24:53
day when we came back for like, do you think we can just go in there and get the, like, those tacos? What? What was it? I think I don't know it was like some sort of

George  25:03
but it was some kind of brisket and the sauce that was on it, and the it was just so good.

Lisa RichartHernandez  25:09
Was it an El pesto or taco? No, no. Okay. Well, it was very, very good, I would say just as good as as Los

George  25:17
Galois. Yeah. I mean, so the

Lisa RichartHernandez  25:21
Mexican restaurant there in the resort, which was also very, very good, um, they've got all kinds of margaritas. They can literally make any flavor they had. It was it all tacos. There's a lot of tacos, like you could get, like, four different tacos. Was a big, was a big thing on the menu there,

George  25:40
yeah. But it's weird, because when I think of a taco, I think of a hard shell taco, and they were more like street tacos, yeah, and they and all the tortillas are fresh, made every day. They were so fresh, so tasty. It just added to the to the whole experience. We also went to Toro, which is the steak house.

Lisa RichartHernandez  26:01
So I'm a steak snob. I'm just gonna say it, yeah, if it isn't Hall's Chop House in Charleston, I'm probably not gonna like it. I think the steak was good. It was very good. Like it was good, it wasn't halls, nothing's halls, I know, but it was very good. I have a hard time like praising steakhouses, I feel like it was on the level of outback.

George  26:28
No, no, out of here, no, I was very good, considering that in the Dominican Republic, Toro is my least favorite place.

Lisa RichartHernandez  26:39
Well, I would say still Toro is my least favorite place. But you know, if you're just a carnivore lover, I mean, I would go to UMO, I will go to UMO again before I would go to Toro. Okay, yeah, I'll give you that, right, yeah? Like, I think it just had better flavors and stuff. Like I said, it's all about a matter of perspective. If, like, the best steak you've ever had was at the Golden Corral, then this is going to be, like, the most incredible stick you've ever had, right? But if the best take you ever had was like, you know, like a wagyu cup for $60 an ounce, then you're going to be like, Okay, right? Like, you know, not good. So all perspective. So keep that in mind, but you'll enjoy it, trust me, yeah. And generally speaking, like, if you think about our perspectives, I am definitely a steak snob. So if it's usually a $60 steak that I'm eating or not eating one at all, so George will eat any any red meat all the time. So yeah, we definitely have different

George  27:36
perspectives of that. And it was good poolside. They have pizzato, which is a pizza shop, which, surprisingly, was really good. And I'm a pizza snob. Yeah, from, I'm from New York, from New York, yeah, I grew up in New York. I'm not from New York anymore. I'm from Charleston. But pizza is my thing, and I really enjoyed it. It was, it was very simple, small pie, like a personal size pizza. And

Lisa RichartHernandez  28:06
so let's be clear about Jim, the sauce is, it's like a very light sauce, very thin, like, and I like that. The dough is kind of like a almost chewy, like, like, very doughy, doughy kind of dough. And I like that too. And I had a lot of cheese and stuff. But do our friend Jim, that we travel with, he was always say, I like extra sauce. And there was, I don't know, some kind of language barrier, because most of the staff also speaks English as well as Spanish. But it was not translating, however, and he was like, why can't I get a pizza with extra sauce?

George  28:46
As a matter of fact, he got it. He asked for an extra sauce pizza one day, and got no sauce. Yeah, so the staff, everybody speaks English. As a matter of fact, one guy was really funny because he spoke to me in Spanish, and then looked at Lisa, and he like, was saying, Do you speak Spanish? In Spanish? And she's like, No. And he was like, oh my god, this is going to be rough, because, you know, and this is all in Spanish. I don't speak English. So Lisa like, Oh my god. Well,

Lisa RichartHernandez  29:13
no, I understood, because I do understand some Spanish,

George  29:17
I know. But he was just pulling your leg right? And all sudden, he's like, No, of course, I speak English.

Lisa RichartHernandez  29:22
Yeah, yeah. And, and I would say of the guests that were there, the majority of them probably spoke English.

George  29:31
Of the guests, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But there were

Lisa RichartHernandez  29:34
a lot, a lot of local there was actually people from Mexico, a lot of like, people from Mexico, that live in Mexico, that were there.

George  29:41
Yeah, we met a bunch of people. We were supposedly getting invited to a quinceanero. So we'll see if

Lisa RichartHernandez  29:47
that's right. Yeah, they were so cool. We make friends wherever we go, like that. So let's go. Okay, so pozzetto And then so they have like, a little QR code you can scan with your phone at every pool. Oh, I actually don't like that, because that means you gotta have your phone with you all the time. And for me and your readers and my reader and my readers and I like on vacation, do the as much as I can to stay away from my phone, because whenever I pick it up, it just means I have to start working again, and I try to get a little bit of a break. But they will bring you a paper menu if you want one too. But it was awesome because they didn't have, like, at Punta Cana, they have these, like, food trucks right there, and you kind of walk up and you wait to get served. Where here they've just got servers, and they just bring the food to you, whatever you want. And I love that they had some really healthy options, like the ceviche, I think they had, like a hummus and vegetable kind of thing. They had some guac. Oh, my God, we ate so much. I think I ate my weight in guacamole that week. I mean, there was such good guacamole everywhere. It would make it fresh, right there. Yeah, it

George  30:56
was delicious. They actually had a guacamole making class at one of the pools, and we missed it, yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  31:01
and the guy who did it said, Oh, it was so fun. My family did the guacamole. And they also heard really good reviews. We did not do this, but they said that the tequila tasting was also really great. I think it was an extra charge, 25 bucks or 50

George  31:17
bucks. Did a lot of tequila tasting.

Lisa RichartHernandez  31:19
Yeah, we did enough on our own, but that was it was really kind of nice, because you just it's relaxing. You sit by the pool and they bring your food and you can whatever you want. And they'll do

George  31:31
that in Punta. Cana also this. But in Cabo, it just seemed so much nicer, so much more relaxed. And of course, the food was better. So it makes the whole experience better. Yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  31:42
so let's see. Have we covered all the restaurants? Oh, the market that that was, was the typical international buffet, which I, like fell in love with. The Indian food for breakfast, they had these, like, spicy eggs that I got, like every day, I was really trying hard to watch my carbohydrates and not eat gluten. They do have a lot of gluten free options, which really is nice. They actually had Gluten Free French toast and a lot of gluten free muffins. And there, there is very easy to eat within dietary restrictions. There, like Tammy that we were with, she's definitely allergic to mushrooms, and so they would make very sure that they did not have any mushrooms anywhere near anything she had. So yeah, they're very, very accommodating, yeah. So the market is nice because you can just kind of walk in and and just eat and then move on to the next part of your day. Yep, we never did it for dinner, but mostly we did it for breakfast. We'd like go there for breakfast. Much better for breakfast and go to the pool and get a snack by the pool and then do whatever for dinner. Yeah.

George  32:50
So speaking of pools, they have several pools, again, not as many as Punta Cana, but they have Eden poles, legendary. So the legendary pool, you have to be VIP or higher to use that pool. They have a red pool, which is kind of weird. It's a cool novelty thing. The pool is literally red. We

Lisa RichartHernandez  33:13
did the bot. The bottom, the water is obviously clear, but the tile on the pool is all red,

George  33:18
all red, so it makes the water look red. We took a funny picture of our friend floating

Lisa RichartHernandez  33:22
on like a dead man's float on there in the red pool.

George  33:26
And then rhythm, which is the adults only pool, which was really nice. There were quite a few kids. I thought, no big deal. Wait,

Lisa RichartHernandez  33:35
I thought rhythm was adults only. That's what I said. The

George  33:39
rhythm. I'm saying rhythm is an adult only pool, which is nice because there were some kids at the

Lisa RichartHernandez  33:44
resort. Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It wasn't, and

George  33:49
it wasn't too bad, like the

Lisa RichartHernandez  33:50
main pool, where all the big activities are, we kind of, that's where all the families go. There was a lot more families there, and we kind of sort of steered clear from there, because we just didn't, you know, we've already raised our kids, so we really weren't in the mood to be around a bunch of kids. It wasn't an over

George  34:08
children. We hung out there one day, and it was have, like, a little

Lisa RichartHernandez  34:12
water slide area and stuff, which we didn't even try because it was so windy. It was weird weather. It was like you would get so sunburned, but you wouldn't feel it happening, because the wind kind of was chilly, almost. So it was, yeah,

George  34:27
and when you stepped out of the pool, it was cold because that wind would just hit you hard, yeah.

Lisa RichartHernandez  34:33
So that's definitely something to consider. You know, we went in May, I don't know if you know, check the weather,

George  34:40
but again, they said it was on unseasonable, right? So

Lisa RichartHernandez  34:43
it's funny, because literally, we were kind of cold and had like a little sweater. I definitely would recommend bringing, like a like a light jacket to just throw one over, you know, to in the evenings. But from the resort, when we were at Cabo and when we went downtown, into the Marine. Yeah, the difference in temperature was literally, like 25 degrees, and it was like boiling hot, where there was no wind, and the sun was shining. We were like sweating to death. And then we went back to the resort, and it was like cool and breezy. And aside from it being windy, it was beautiful weather.

George  35:17
Yeah, we had one day where the wind kind of died down a little bit, and you can definitely tell the difference that day was the hottest day of all. Yeah, without that wind, it's hot.

Lisa RichartHernandez  35:28
And it's funny, because so many people were sunburned. I mean, like, sun burned. Remember

George  35:35
that one kid,

Lisa RichartHernandez  35:37
he was about, like, probably 16 years old or something, and it looked like he had taken, like, sunscreen and sort of like splashed it on his body in different places, and he was like a red and white mess. And I just started laughing, because we have four grown kids now. They're all in their 20s. And I was like, oh my god, I bet your mom told you to put sunscreen on, and this is your result, because I can totally see my kids just, like, slapping it on, like, Yeah, mom, whatever, not getting burned. And then turns out they are fried. I mean, that kid looked like he was hurting. I mean, I'm talking about, like, the difference between pure red and Snow White.

George  36:14
Oh, he looked like a lobster where he was red. Yeah, it was,

Lisa RichartHernandez  36:18
it was, it was really funny. So definitely, you know, bring your sunscreen or buy some there and use it, because if it's windy and you don't feel it, you will get burned. So

George  36:27
rhythm is where we had Lisa's birthday Cabana, and it's really, really nice pool. Right next to rhythm is the red pool. And then there was some construction going on next to that pool, and we found out that the Hard Rock is building a whole section that's going to be adults only. So we're really excited about that. And they told us, if you are staying in the adults only section, you can use the whole resort. But if somebody is staying outside of the adult section. They cannot come into the adult section, if that makes sense. So it's, it's almost like an exclusive stay at an exclusive resort,

Lisa RichartHernandez  37:10
yeah, yeah, that will be cool. I don't know when that supposed to be done. I think in the next year. Yeah. I mean, we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for that. I would definitely take a trip back to Cabo. Oh, let's talk about excursions. We did, uh, this the

George  37:26
luxury sale, uh, sunset sale, yeah, yeah. That was really nice. That was our second time doing that. We did it with our friends the first time we went. And I'm glad we did it. It's really, really nice. It's a nice sailboat. It's limited on the number of people?

Lisa RichartHernandez  37:41
Yeah, so they take you out to the arch pictures, and they have a photographer on board to to take photos, if it's just the two of you and you want someone to take your pictures. But of course, they're gonna try to sell them, sell them to you at the end. It was a sailboat.

George  37:57
It was a sailboat. A little lunch was included. Cocktails were included. It was really nice. The only thing I didn't like, if I'm being honest, is there's really nowhere to sit comfortably.

Lisa RichartHernandez  38:11
Yeah, so, being a sailboat, we were kind of sitting on like a on the front, like, after like four hours, my my lower back was kind of hurting. It wasn't like a chair, you know what I mean, and I can't remember, but I think I might have had on, like, a score or skirt or something, yeah? So it wasn't like you could even, like, sit Indian style kind of a thing. I don't know. I would just say, like, if you're sensitive to that or have a bad back, that might not be the one for you to do.

George  38:40
Yeah, and it was, it was, what, two hours, three hours, and it was at least two all together, was like four hours, yeah, the total excursion, because on the boat was like two or

Lisa RichartHernandez  38:49
three, yeah? Cuz there's like, the bus ride into town, and they take you to this sort of waiting area

George  38:56
place. This is an aquarium, yeah, dolphin show,

Lisa RichartHernandez  38:59
yep. And then you walk down to the boat, and we get on the sailboat, you definitely want to wear comfortable shoes. They you take your shoes off when you get on board, you put them in a bin so you don't even have shoes on. And and then they bring you your drinks and stuff.

George  39:18
So we did the sunset cruise, which was really nice. They also have an earlier one. If you do the earlier one, you can kill two birds with one stone. You can take the bus down to the marina, do your excursion, and then I think you can opt to not take the bus back and just hang out at the marina, and then just take a Uber back when you're ready. And that's an option to keep in mind, because the Marina is definitely worth going to see.

Lisa RichartHernandez  39:47
Yeah, yeah. I mean, it's like the, you know, all the tourist restaurants and see the boats and the sea lions, and

George  39:56
so we took a an Uber back one night. Oh, I. After the sunset cruise, and I talked to the Uber driver, because obviously I speak Spanish, and we I asked him, Hey, where's the place to go? Where do the locals go? And he gave me so many recommendations. It was a dance club restaurant. There is so much to do in downtown Cabo at night that I think next time I would venture a little bit more at night and check out some of these bars and clubs and just go dancing and enjoy the downtown. When we were leaving, it was packed. There was so many people down there.

Lisa RichartHernandez  40:42
It's funny, because, like, it's hard when you're in an all inclusive you're like, Well, why should we go outside the gate and pay for something that we can just get for free, right here in the resort? So I wouldn't suggest, you know, like, it's not something you want to do, like, every single night, but maybe one time. Right? Right. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. For sure. There's a lot of other things we've done, like the very last time we did the Cabo one, we did the ride the camels and the four wheelers. And that was really fun. That was fun. Our friend had a bad back, so we opted not to do the ATV riding and stuff like that. That would not have gone over well, but it was really fun when we did it the last time. That was a few years ago, but I'd recommend that.

George  41:26
Yeah, so going back to the resort, every night, they have like different things out in the lobby, like they had one night. And you've got to try this, if they have it, and they will have it, but it's called Fire coffee, Mexican. Coffee. Mexican. Was it Mexic? No,

Lisa RichartHernandez  41:46
yeah, it was. I made it. Made fire, like they made it right there, and like, outside of the bar at this this lady has little cart and, like, two metal would those be called? It's almost like a gravy bowl, yeah, like two metal gravy bowls over this flame, and then you could choose rum, tequila, vodka, not zambuka, no, it was rum tequila, vodka. And like a whiskey, bourbon, whether your choices of liquor. And then they had the the coffee liqueur, like a Kahlua, but it wasn't cool a brand. And then they put it in this little gravy bowl thing and poured it back and forth until it caught on fire, and then put it into like a coffee cup. Yeah, it was like, and it was so delicious. And it had like a rim, they put like a sugary rim, so it almost tasted like a creme brulee coffee. Oh my god,

George  42:51
the whole experience. You gotta eat, watching it and then tasting it. It was really good coffee.

Lisa RichartHernandez  42:58
Yeah, it's, I mean, it's included, it's free. Like, definitely check that out and try it. For sure, it was really good.

George  43:05
And then we did with our friends that are going to invite us to the quinceanera. She's the one that introduced us to Mexican candy shots. Who we they went down so good. They tasted great. And boy, did they pack a punch.

Lisa RichartHernandez  43:24
I don't even remember what I

George  43:25
was gonna I was just looking at your face, and I'm like, I don't think she remembers, yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  43:29
yeah. There was a lot of it was a birthday. I think that was my birthday night, yeah. And I don't know we've if we've shared with you, but we don't drink that often anymore. We just, it's just with our health, like, it's just so we just don't like to feel bad for three days after drinking. And that was the one day when we did all those, yeah, shots or whatever. Was my, like, big kind of birthday night, and then I was dying for two

George  43:58
days after that. God, yeah, we so we met her, we had the shots, and then we met another couple, not a couple, a group of people that were selling, it was their birthday too. It was their birthday. So we ended up getting adopted by them, and we ended up at the nightclub with them and dancing, which, by the way, the nightclub is not really a nightclub. It was down by the bowling alley. Remember, we went that, you know? God, I don't think she remembers people.

Lisa RichartHernandez  44:27
I Yeah, it wasn't any big I have the pictures to prove it. There's not a nightclub like there is in Punta Punta Cana, right? Punta Cana has an actual nightclub and casino, right? And so that's the things that are kind of missing from Cabo. I felt like the nightlife was not as vibrant.

George  44:49
It's downtown, and I did find out last minute that there is a casino, but it's downtown in the marina.

Lisa RichartHernandez  44:57
Oh, well. So either way, it was. Wasn't in the resort. And the sort of nightlife I think is more vibrant at the Hard Rock in Punta Cana than it is in in Cabo. Yeah, yeah, pretty much it was

George  45:12
fun. Every bar at night was full. It was, it was really, it was more laid back, more laid back. We got to meet a bunch of really nice people. That's one of our favorite things to do on vacation, is just meet different people. Remember, we met Arturo and his wife. They were really cool. We kept running into them.

Lisa RichartHernandez  45:29
George is so good at keeping up with people that we meet on vacation. I'm like, terrible at it. I'm like, Who are you talking to? I'll be texting someone. I'll be like, Oh, do you remember Arturo that we met four years ago at the Hard Rock in Punta. Cana, yeah, I was just telling him this, and I'm like, what, what are you talking about? Like, I don't even know these people with everybody you know. Like,

George  45:54
I love that. That's one of the things I love about vacation, yeah.

Lisa RichartHernandez  45:56
Like, we met some friends at a resort down in Florida. They were from Canada, and we this was like, gotta be over five years ago, because easily, George has kept in touch with them. And when they came through Charleston, they stopped and stayed at the house for a night, and we made him dinner on the hibachi, and he had his daughter with them, as a matter of fact. And now we're going up to Nova Scotia in the in the in in August, and they have a hook up at their house, and they're like, stay at our house for a couple days, and so we're gonna go see them. So that's, it's cool. He George is very good at it way, way better than I am. And it's, it's just kind of fun how we meet people from all over the country now, all over the world.

George  46:36
And you did touch on our upcoming trip that we're, we're gonna, we're gonna briefly give you a little breakdown of what we got planned. Yeah, yeah. Give you a little teaser.

Lisa RichartHernandez  46:46
Let me just finish by saying one more thing about hard rocking and Cabo. I did use the spa there. I think I went to the spa four times. Yes, excellent. Deep Tissue massages. I'm also kind of a massage snob. I don't like to go on vacation. I like really deep tissue massages. And I don't like to go on vacation and then like, get, like, a massage where they're just, like, basically rub oil on you. And I'm like, that wasn't even helpful. And I just wasted an hour and a half of my time, you know, like, I love the deep tissue massage. And I literally could have gone every single day. I know I went like, four times, which is a lot, but I could have gone three more if, if I would have, if I really would have wanted to.

George  47:32
Yeah, we did a couple couples massage, and mine was great. I mean, yeah, I think I fell asleep, so

Lisa RichartHernandez  47:39
I didn't do the hydrotherapy. I will say the the Spa at the Punta Cana resort is much larger, and I would say nicer than the one in Cabo. The one in Cabo is smaller, but the services were excellent, yeah, and I I didn't feel disappointed

George  48:01
at all when I had, they had all the same rooms, they had the mud room, they had the they had all the

Lisa RichartHernandez  48:07
same things. It just was, it's just small. It was just smaller, smaller. And I think that you, you really had to, like, sign up to do that. It wasn't included. I feel like it wasn't included in our treatments.

George  48:18
I don't know. We don't even try, yeah, because, because, typically when you pay for treatment, you can use the hydrotherapy a little early, or use it pretty much the whole day, if you Yeah.

Lisa RichartHernandez  48:29
So if that's like the thing that you're into, it's like a cold plunge, a hot plunge, a hot tub, a sauna, a Steam Sauna, a dry sauna, of cold buckets of water and a mud room, ice room. So they had all those things. It was very cool. Very cool, yeah, but just look into that. If that's something that you're into. I always tell people, there's a place called the oak in Asheville that's a really super expensive Spa at the what's

George  49:00
the name of I'm drawing a blank right now. I know where you're talking about, but I'm drawing a blank.

Lisa RichartHernandez  49:05
Yeah, Grove Park Inn. There you go, Grove Park in Nashville, and it's $200 just to go even swim in the little pool down there or whatever, and sit in their little spa area. And super hard to even get treatments in there, in this beautiful spa. But I'm telling you that the Punta Cana spa, in my opinion, is nicer than that. And the Spa at Cabo didn't have as many like areas of lounging around like they do at Punta Cana, but it was still the treatments were excellent, yeah. And if you have resort credits, you can use it towards towards towards the spa. So you I think, if you're not a member, you only pay like 30% of what the spa treatment cost is. So like, ask, you know, if you get resort credits that you can use at the resort, you can book your spa treatment. Say it's a $300 treatment. You just pay 30. Percent, so it's $90 so it's kind of like average pricing for that. Then you can leave a tip if you want to, yeah, and it's well worth it. They did a great job. Yeah. So did want to say that about the the rock spa, their

George  50:12
transportation to and from the airport is all provided. It was really simple,

Lisa RichartHernandez  50:18
yeah. So that the thing at the Cabo airport, you get off, off the plane, you walk through customs, which was actually very fast. They made it super simple, yeah. And then you walk into this room of people that are trying to sell you stuff, if you can just bust past those people. Keep on walking and get out of the airport. The entry, the pickup place for the Hard Rock is outside of the airport. So you walk outside of the airport and there's all these like little tikis, and every different resort has sort of their like sign, holding up their signs, holding up their signs to where they are. It's very easy to find, but it can be overwhelming. If you're like, the it's your first time there, you're kind of like, where do I go, especially if you don't speak Spanish, and everyone's like, Do you need a ride? Do you need a ride? Do you need a ride? And you're like, you just tell them no, because you're you're you're your transportation should be set up by your travel. Whoever sets your travel up for you, unless you have not booked your pickup and drop off before you go. We highly recommend booking that when you book your travel, yeah, the vacation guide will reach out to you and ask you about your air, your flights and all of that. So they'll be on the lookout for you to pick you up and take you to the resort. Outside of that is a whole entire like bar and restaurant like outside, right next to that. So while you're waiting for your cars, you can get drinks and start your vacation before you even hit it, you can bring your drinks into the van also. So it's about what, 45 minute drive. Yeah, it's a pretty good drive, you know. So it's a nice drive, yeah? I mean, it's a ride. See mountains, see water, yeah, desert, yeah. I mean, it's, it's not, is

George  52:05
what it is, at least you're not going through slums of, you know, like some places, you rough places, yeah?

Lisa RichartHernandez  52:13
So definitely, just just tunnel through that and get to those people outside, you'll see the usually have purple shirts hard rock resort people, and they will have your name on a list and have a car ready to pick you up when your flight comes in. And then they'll also tell you while you're at the resort, you tell them when you're leaving, and they will tell you when to be out front and when you have to be out of your room and stuff to catch your flight in time. And

George  52:43
sometimes, like, several hours or Yeah, and I was just gonna say, sometimes you look at it and you go, Wow, do I really need to be there that early. And yes, trust me, they do this every single day. Take their recommendation whenever they recommend for you to be on that bus. Be on the bus because it's, it's almost an hour drive to the airport. Then you got to go through customs. You got to get, it's just, it's worth it. You cannot just get there and jump on your plane.

Lisa RichartHernandez  53:12
Yeah, yeah. And then, okay, Be forewarned. Like we were sitting by the gate and I was like, I think I'm gonna get some peanut M M's to, like, take on the airplane, and I got, like, one of those small, shareable bags, but everything was in pesos. So, like, I just didn't really calculate the exchange rate. And it turned out, like the M M's were $9 I was, like, I did not want $9 M M's, but, you know, like, it's airport highway robbery, but just be aware of that when you go there. Like, if you're if your budget conscious

George  53:48
user, like, have a calculator ready?

Lisa RichartHernandez  53:50
Yeah, yeah. So, a couple little tips there. What else?

George  53:55
So, like I said, they streamline the customs thing. Everything is facial recognition. Now, I mean, we, we remember, we walked up to this little screen, put your passport in, and took a picture of you, and you got a green light, and we were in. That's it. That's it. Yeah, it was going through coming into the United States. We did the same thing, and there was a customs agent there, and Lisa did her thing, and she looked at the guy, and she goes, is that it? And he goes, I got some pepper spray if you want. I

Lisa RichartHernandez  54:28
thought that was fun. Yeah, it was like, that's all we had to do. Like, yeah, yeah.

George  54:32
Facial recognition, scary. I mean, it's, yeah,

Lisa RichartHernandez  54:35
it's amazing. It makes travel so much easier. So we, we've got, that was one of our great trips. We've got so much travel planned this summer. We're super excited. We're going to share a podcast with you the whole way. We're getting back into the RV we're going to hit the road, and we are going to spend a week. Lake Jocassee in North Carolina, which we ops, is that South Carolina or North Carolina? South Carolina, isn't it? Yeah, South Carolina. It's kind of on the border. There beautiful, beautiful lake with waterfalls. This will be our third or fourth year going now third year, I think it's our fourth year, okay, if you say so, whatever. Anyways, so we'll tell you about Lake Jocassee, and then we are taking an East Coast trip all the way up to Nova Scotia. This for be on the road the last week in July, all the way up to the second week in September, where we're going to end well, we're going to stop at little Oak Island, where I'm going to go to a girls weekend and meet all my other girlfriends. I don't know what George is going to do that weekend yet, if he's going to drive home and leave drive home and leave me there and ride home with the girls, or if we're just going to continue our trip, kind of depends on what our work schedule is. But we're going to share all that with you, and we look forward to the new brand of our loving RV Life podcast. If you kind of have been following us, you know, my business has really grown. Real Estate. We do deeded RV lot sales in South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida now, and so we've been building that Florida business and working on some things that we can't really talk about yet, but we're just know that we're kind of all over the map. And people are always like, where's George and Lisa? Like, we can't Where are you today? And most of it has been for work stuff, and we just kind of really wanted to get back to our roots and put some travel time on the motor coach and see some things, and kind of fall back in love with RV Life, instead of it just being work from the RV work, work, work. So there'll be a little both working, of course, because he's got to fund this expedition somehow. But we're going to share with you in our podcast travels, and we hope that you'll share our podcast with your friends and like us and follow us and stay tuned for those trips and travels.

But a couple exciting things that you forgot to mention is we are going to try to do video podcasts. Yeah, so you are ugly mugs.

Lisa RichartHernandez  57:03
Well, YouTube now has, like, a podcast platform, and so we'll automatically be sharing to YouTube, and we hope that will help us get more followers, but we may have to actually be on video, which the reason I loved podcasting is because I didn't have to do my hair and makeup to do these podcasts, but me too. Yeah, so maybe we're gonna have to do that. We're looking forward to it, bring it to the next Yeah, we're trying to really focus more on our podcast and be have be a little more professional and more purposeful about about doing that. So we hope that the new brand will be exciting for you, loving RV Life podcast, which is our website. Now
